Morris Mataboge triumphant

The long-awaited 7th ANC Waterberg regional conference progressed with the incumbent chair Morris Mataboge re-elected to lead the region ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The long-awaited 7th ANC Waterberg regional conference progressed with the incumbent chair Morris Mataboge re-elected to lead the region ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Rising political activist and Bela-Bela mayor, Jeremiah Ngobeni, was elected the new treasurer.

ANC Limpopo provincial secretary, Soviet Lekganyane, unveiled the newly-elected regional executive committee (REC).

The conference was held on Saturday 7 July in Mokopane.

After intense lobbying and canvassing by delegates at the conference, the top five leadership comprised of Mataboge, Ngobeni, Mogalakwena councillor, Frans Mokwele, as deputy chair, Mokopane political activist Jacob Moabelo, the secretary, and former Mookgophong mayor, Sarah Monyamane, the deputy secretary.

Former ANC Youth League firebrand, Matome Moremi, was elected as an additional member, together with Modimolle-based youth leader, Seraka Mapeka, former Vaalwater councillor Sechele Sebolai, Mogalakwena’s Jabu Mashamaite and Bela-Bela’s Gloria Seleka.

Mogalakwena’s Samuel Mathebula, his homegirl Pheladi Oliphant, Bela-Bela’s Nelly Zikhale, Thabazimbi’s Jabu Mthombeni, Lephalale’s Dipuo Moatshe and Mogalakwena councillors David Langa, Theresa Lebese and Kheina Senoamadi, also made the cut.

Also on the list are Modimolle’s Grace Mashitisho, Lephalale’s Reginah Molokomme, and Bela-Bela’s Spando Maluleke and Matildah Radebe, Thabazimbi Sonny Ndlovu, Mogalakwena’s Josephine Madiba and Norman Photwane.
