EFF speaks out about land expropriation

Our focus is on vacant land.

Andries “Sello” Moswoeu, EFF coun-cillor, Bela-Bela, writes:

The EFF’s main focus in Bela-Bela is vacant and municipal-owned land.

It is the role of the EFF to confront the Bela-Bela Local Municipality to make this land available for housing purposes.

It is widely known that the issue of land is the EFF’s priority, because people do not have sufficient access to land, and therefore housing.

If local government does not implement the Integrated Development Plan, or the municipal budget within a prescribed timeframe, we will take further action.

There is a by-election in Ward 9, Bela-Bela, due and with that in mind, the EFF will also be demanding better services for the residents of Spa Park and the Vingerkraal area.
We urge the governing party not to just see the residents of this area as “voters” and leave them with empty promises.

The matter of land restitution has completely failed to materialise under the ANC government, which is why the EFF asked for the motion in parliament.

We are hoping to see some action from government’s side in this regard, and consultations with the municipal manager will take place soon.

Although we were told that they are discussing certain possibilities in our area, the EFF still feels that more focus should be given to the issue of vacant land and proper housing.
The EFF in Bela-Bela does not focus on established properties whatsoever. Our focus is on vacant land.

I urge all residents and business owners to help seek a solution and meet with us about the matter.

It is also our intent to continue demanding information on the land audit in our area, so we can establish how much land is available and what transactions had taken place to date.

The pride and dignity of our people rest on this matter, and therefore no-one shall stand in our way.
