The fledgling Character Performing Arts of Bela-Bela has lined up a series of activities to commemorate Youth Day on Saturday 16 June.

The youth festival was scheduled for the Bela-Bela township’s Multipurpose Centre.

Featured on the daylong programme would be hip-hop music, poetry, battle of the disc jockeys, stage drama performances, cultural dance routines, comedy, choirs, and a beauty pageant.

Character Performing Arts events manager, Tutu Rakhokolo, said it was anticipated the inaugural festival would offer fireworks for those in attendance, including performers and the audience alike.

He said the youth were facing serious challenges, and needed a home where they could reflect and showcase their talents.

Rakhokolo said a motivational speaker would also be roped in to give both performers and the audience sage advice on youth development.

Entrance to the event is free.

Groups who still want to be part of the event were advised to make contact with Rathokolo at 079 401 5435 or Eamon 076 490 2357.
