Prize money up for grabs in marathon

All runners, far and wide, are called to participate in the Waterberg Race that will take place on Saturday 2 November.

The race offers a three-in-one distance of 73,3 km for those who relish a longer distance.

There are also 42,2 km, 21,1 km, and 10 km distances to choose from, with the 42,2 km distance starting at 05:30, the 21,1 km at 13:00, and the 10 km race at 17:00. Prize money is up for grabs at different ages and distance categories, with the men and women’s winner of the 42,2 km race taking home a grand R10 000.

The 42,2 km race will head out from Weesgerus Resort, through town and run towards Bela-Bela on the R101 route before turning back and finishing at Weesgerus again. This route includes some steep and challenging up-and-down hills.

The 21,1 km race will follow a similar route but will turn back earlier. The 10 km race takes off from Weesgerus and will take a route through town along Koro Creek Golf Estate’s border, before heading back to the starting point.

Those who participate in the 73,3 km distance and enter before Friday, 18 October, will receive a T-shirt.

The race will take place at the Weesgerus Holiday Resort, just outside of Modimolle, and is organised by the local running club, Fitness for All. Cooldrink and water will be available every 3 km.
