Alleged drug dealers nabbed in Limpopo

During the last week, police made a breakthrough and three arrests have been made. The cases are linked to drug dealing in Limpopo.

On Tuesday, 31st of October the police received information regarding a female suspect who was allegedly transporting drugs in an Opel Corsa and was en route from Hammanskraal to Modimolle.

According to Brig Hlulani Mashaba from SAPS Limpopo, the described vehicle was spotted driving along the R101 towards Modimolle. The police stopped and searched the vehicle and confiscated 800 sachets of Nyaope drugs at the estimated value of R20 000. The suspect was arrested immediately and her vehicle was seized.

The seized Opel Corsa the female suspect was driving when she was allegedly caught with 800 sachets of the nyaope drug in her possession.

Thereafter, on Thursday, 2nd of November, a 56-year-old male suspect was apprehended in the possession of 800 sachets of the Nyaope drug with an estimated street value of R28 000. Mashaba said that a joint Pro-Active Tactical Network Operation called “Domestic” was called to eradicate the drug trade across the province. This has led to the arrest of one male suspect in Bela-Bela on Thursday, 2nd November. The operation comprised of the Limpopo Organised Crime Unit in conjunction with the Narcotic Desk was conducted along the R101 road from Pretoria to Bela-Bela.

On Friday 3 November another 56- year old male suspect was arrested on the R101. According to Mashaba police received information about the suspect who was in possession of drugs he purchased in Pretoria with the intention to sell in Limpopo.

“They reacted swiftly, started locating the suspect and spotted him between McKenzie and Radium on the R101-road,” said Mashaba. “The suspect was found in possession of loose sachets containing heroin with an estimated street value of R12 000 and was arrested on the spot.”

All suspects will appear in the respective courtrooms in due time.
