The police were conducting routine patrols at approximately 20:00 on the main road, when they stopped the 32-year-old man, who was wearing a military uniform, in his silver Toyota Corolla.
When asked to identify himself, the man was unable to provide proof that he was a member of the SANDF or give details of his superiors.
The police officers searched his vehicle and found two unlicensed firearms, a pellet gun, two empty magazines and another military uniform.
The man was arrested and appeared in the Mokopane Regional Court on Tuesday 29 August on charges of impersonating as a SANDF member and being in possession of unlicensed firearms.
“Wearing a military uniform without authority is a punishable offense,” warned Lt. Genl. Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.
