DA’s David Senosha is back in Bela-Bela Local Council

David Senosha was, after much deliberation, appointed to the Bela-Bela Municipal Council.

Senosha will be taking the place of Rika Kruger, who resigned as councillor at the end of March.

Senosha, a previous councillor, was inaugurated on Thursday 13 April at the municipality. He will represent the DA party as a proportional councillor once again.

He did not retain his councillor seat after the 2021 municipal election due to the fact that the DA did not receive sufficient votes for additional PR positions.

The DA will have to pull out all the stops and once again establish themselves as contenders in the national election of 2024. They must be the party of choice for all voters. Senosha said he was ready for the task at hand.

“I did not sit around idly for the past few years. I remained an activist for the DA and helped wherever I could in the Bela-Bela Township,” Senosha said. “I survived financially by driving people to their destinations. It was difficult to not represent my party in an official capacity, but I am back with a vengeance and ready to work.”

Senosha has been a councillor for seven years. He says he is aware of the challenges in town and more challenges will arise on the way to the 2024 elections.

“People still need housing, proper libraries, jobs, water and access to proper communication channels between them and the municipality. It is very important to be known in the township as the person the people can go to when they need assistance,” he said. “We are moving into the municipality’s budget period. My advice to residents is to read the document that they receive and check regularly if the municipality under the ANC management is keeping to the budget and fulfilling its promises. If they are lacking, then people must be held responsible.”

The projects he will be focussing on are paving projects, the Zuma View section in the township being formalised, the residents in Extension 9’s water shortage being resolved and keeping the roads up to standard.

“I will be visiting residents to check on them if they require services. It is unfortunate that promises were made by the ANC and, after a full year has passed, a new IDP is presented which shows that very little work was done on their part.”
