Letter: Huis Talje urgently needs your support

The current economic challenges and the growing social distress in our community, made it almost impossible to gain financial assistance.

Erica van Zyl, Project Manager, Huis Talje, Bela-Bela, writes:

During the 2021/22 financial year Huis Talje had to face exceptional financial challenges.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, essential operating costs has risen beyond expectation. The established contractual subsidies by the Department of Social Development were also delayed and funds ran very low.

Where we previously had a lot of support from the local community and businesses. The current economic challenges and the growing social distress in our community, made it almost impossible to gain financial assistance.

Huis Talje currently offers care in all facets to 49 children. Without being able to make any financial projections, our concerns to the sustainability of our much needed project, are concerning.

Huis Talje needs essential financial assistance to maintain sustainability, and guarantee the total care of our special children.

Huis Talje’s immediate needs, apart from financial assistance, remain. We are in desperate need of medium size adult nappies, disposable masks, cleaning materials, funds for operational costs (electricity, salaries and other expenditures) and fruit, vegetables, meat and groceries for our children.

All contributions will be highly appreciated and an Article 18A receipt will be avaiable on request. Quotes will be provided on request.
