Letter: We need Christian morals

Our plea is to support Christian values and Christian communities.

Leonie Louw, Mookgophong, writes:

On behalf of Church Live Community in the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality, I would like to make a request to the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP).

The challenges in towns in Limpopo, and the rest of our country, have become unbearable for young and old. Residents are in desperate need of more information regarding issues raised by government, but we have nobody in our communities to rely on.

The politicians of different parties are in dialogue, but the ordinary citizen does not have the opportunity to make inputs before decisions are made.

We want politicians to speak to us and keep us abreast of new resolutions.

Our plea is to the ACDP, or any other political party with Christian values, to support our Christian values and Christian communities.

Our country needs a non-racial party with Christian, moral values. We do not want so called humanistic Christian moral values, but Biblical Christian values. Only then will everybody in our communities be treated with dignity, sustainable living conditions, food security to the poor as well as health facilities that can render a service to all and protect our people from harm.

When churches are supported, we will continue to protect the vulnerable, speak to those that lost their way and ruined their lives and pick up those who have been cast out on the streets.

Abuse and violence is rampant where Christians were disdained. We as Christians have been forced into our homes and our tasks hindered.

A muted Christian is no longer a free Christian. A muted church is no longer a free Church. A muted Church loses its ability to solve the problems of our communities.

The rural community, and especially our children, have lost their way and they are overcome with depression and lost hope, because they are constantly warned against an enemy they cannot see or deal with.

Our children bear the scars due to our churches being locked up.

We are asking the ACDP to consider the predicament churches and Christians have to bear with and support us so that we can continue to be the light and support our communities.
