Another Limpopo derby this weekend

The Limpopo province is scheduled to stage another Limpopo derby with Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC and Baroka FC doing battle at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday 7 March.

The Limpopo province is scheduled to stage another Limpopo derby with Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC and Baroka FC doing battle at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday 7 March.

Interestingly, both sides emerged from last weekend’s fixtures with narrow losses.

Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC went down 2-1 to Polokwane City FC, while Baroka FC suffered a similar 2-1 defeat away to Bloemfontein Celtic FC.

Like the match-up between Polokwane City FC and Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC last weekend, the match against Baroka FC is the continuation of attempts by Limpopo’s best to avoid relegation to the lower ranks of South
African football.

Baroka FC is struggling at number 14 on the Absa Premiership league log table, while Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC has dropped to position 15.

A David and Goliath battle has been set between tail-enders, Amazulu FC, and pacesetters Kaizer Chiefs FC, also on Saturday.

Soweto derby losers, Orlando Pirates FC (3), have an away date with Golden Arrows FC (8), while Bidvest Wits FC (6) welcomes Chippa United FC (11) at Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg.

The fixture to watch this forthcoming Sunday 8 March, is the potential humdinger between hosts Highlands Park FC (7) and Supersport United FC (4), at Ekurhuleni’s Makhulong Stadium.

The other fixture on Sunday has pitted visitors Bloemfontein Celtic FC (9) against Cape Town City FC (12).
