Bela-Bela Hospital held an awards ceremony for the institution’s personnel for the first time.

The awards will in future be held quarterly.

According to hospital CEO, Sam Boikanyo, the objective is to motivate staff to up their game at all times.

Housekeeping staff member Maria Ntimane was moved to tears when she was declared the overall best employee.

She said it was for the first time that she was formally recognised.

Boikanyo said Ntimane always gave her level best in performing her duties.

“This woman is always punctual, and does her work with passion and dedication,” he said.

Mtimane has been offered a certificate and a voucher for a massage at Forever Resorts, sponsored by Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Ngobeni.

The awards ceremony was also graced by Municipal Manager Michael Makhubela, other officials and councillors.

Among the other winners were paediatrician Gladys Malete, mental health nurses Yvonne Mogano and Elsie Masingi, and best physiotherapist Leboga Mokau.
