Dignitaries visit learners injured in bus accident

The Waterberg District Executive Mayor Morris Mataboge and government leaders accompanied Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale in visiting the seven learners who were injured after the bus in which they were traveling got involved in an accident.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the accident took place on Tuesday 4 February near Bela-Bela.

He added that the learners sustained minor injuries after the driver lost control and hit a barrier and they were all rushed to the Bela-Bela Hospital for medical attention.

The learners are from Heuningvlei Primary School in Thabazimbi, and were traveling to Modimole where the MEC for Social Development was handing over school uniforms to about 200 learners from the Waterberg District.

Rakgoale wished them a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, Ngoepe said that the police are investigating a case of reckless and or negligent driving.

“The cause of this accident is subject to ongoing police investigations,” Ngoepe added.
