It never rains but pours for Raeleng High School

Controversy seems to follow Bela-Bela’s Raeleng High School like a shadow.

Controversy seems to follow Bela-Bela’s Raeleng High School like a shadow.

Just after reports of a collapsed ceiling, other reports have emerged of three learners having suffered injuries from flying glass particles from a broken window.

In recent weeks The BEAT reported on two Grade 10 learners — one male and the other female — from Raeleng Secondary School who had to be rushed to hospital after a classroom ceiling caved in, falling on them.

Raeleng High School SGB chairperson, Hosea Molekoa, said an emergency parents’ meeting was scheduled for midweek to discuss learners’ safety at the school.

In the latest incident, three learners were rushed to hospital after a freak accident, from which a stone smashed through the classroom window, with injuries from glass particles.

One of the parents, Maria Morudu, said her Grade 9 daughter was admitted to the Bela-Bela Hospital with face injuries.

She said she feared further medical attention to the schoolgirl may cost beyond what she can afford.

Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Ngobeni is on record to the effect that land has been set aside for the relocation of Raeleng Secondary School.
