The John Steenhuisen roadshow swept through Bela-Bela on Tuesday 28 January as the DA leader drummed up his “Real State of the Nation” campaign.

The DA leader touched base with the Andre Kock Auctions on the outskirts of Bela-Bela.

He was welcomed by DA Caucus leader in the Bela-Bela Local Council, Frans Mothokwa, together with David Senosha, Tinus Raas, Rachel Masemola and Modimolle-Mookgophong Mayor Marleen Van Staden.

During the visit, Steenhuisen engaged and interacted with locals, listening to their daily challenges and struggles in a quest to assess the “real” state of the nation.

Steenhuisen was also joined by the DA Limpopo Provincial Leader Jacques Smalle and DA member on the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development in the National Assembly, Noko Masipa.

“Life is getting harder for the vast majority of South Africans. Unemployment and poverty are rising, electricity and water supplies are unstable, and people feel unsafe in their communities. Now is the time for bold, workable alternatives to stem this tide and help change lives for the better,” Steenhuisen said in a statement.

The tour culminated with a community meeting that was held at Moshate Tribal Council in Mogalakwena on the same day.
