SABC 2 Showville finalist and Bela-Bela Afro-jazz songstress Palesa Pesha has treaded where angels dare; a jazz festival in a time of house music and other contemporary idioms more popular with the youth.

Pesha is part of the line-up and events manager for her inaugural Jazz Music Concert on Sunday 1 December.

The event will be hosted at Engetane Chisanyama in the township’s Exrtension 5.

Also featured on the programme are King George Maphahla and Lucy Dimakatso Setshedi.

Pesha was among the four finalists in the SABC 2 Showville music programme hosted at Forever Resort in Bela-Bela in June last year.

She is planning to release her debut album shortly.

Her singing career dates back to her girlhood at the age of eight.

Pesha said her love of jazz was inspired by her collector father, Paulos Malatjie, who entertained her with icons such as Hugh Masekela, Lucky Dube and Selaelo Selota.

In later years she developed her own collection, featuring the likes of the late Miriam Makeba, Bongo Muffin and Thandiswa Mazwai.
