Bela-Bela SAPS acting station commander, Colonel Abel Phetla, said the higher court would then decide on a trial date.

He said the third suspect had volunteered to become a state witness.

The accused, namely Justice Mudau (24) and William Bapela (69), appeared in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Friday 27 September.

Phetla confirmed that the 33-year-old suspect who chose to become a turncoat was on bail of R2 000.

The two other suspects remain in custody.

The three men are accused of robbing, at gunpoint, the Prinsloo family on their farm in the early hours of the morning of Thursday 20 June.

The suspects allegedly broke a window to gain access to the farmhouse. The Prinsloo family was allegedly awoken at gunpoint.

They were tied up in the main bedroom while the house was rummaged. The suspects then fled.

The police, in conjunction with the Heritage protection group (HPG) managed to arrest three suspects in the weeks following the robbery.
