Home-grown talent has in recent weeks been snapping up accolades from as far afield as the Italian city of Turion.

Bela-Bela’s man-of-muscles, the bodybuilder Thabo Mabotja brought home a silver medal from the International Bodybuilding Federation.

He came second in the Toando Wall category (70 kg), beating several other competitors from participating nations.

Mabotja’s next mission is the Worldwide bodybuilding showdown scheduled for the city of Ljubljana, Slovania, in October.

Across the region in Modimolle, a number of the Maokeng Primary School teaching staff and learners returned from the Waterberg District academic contest with several medals.

Grade 2 learner, Mohau Motau, came out second in an academic competition hosted by the Limpopo Department of Education, under the category Reading Aloud in Sepedi, while Kamogelo

Chauke (Grade 6) obtained first position at the district level of Spelling Bee competition in a separate competition.

Secuity officer by night, and word-artist by day — so to speak — Victor Mabusela has added to his body of literature, with his second poetry anthology, in addition to a separate work of non-fiction.
