Limpopo Tourism unveils 2019 Tourism Month

The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) has launched the province’s 2019 Tourism Month.

The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) has launched the province’s 2019 Tourism Month.

The event was held at Leeuwenhof Country Lodge and Spa outside Modimolle on Thursday 29 August.

LEDET MEC Thabo Mokone presided over the official launch, accompanied by the LTA interim board chairperson, Solly Kgopong, and CEO Nomasonto Ndlovu.

TTA spokesperson, Ntlhekeng Kgatla, said the central objective was to drive domestic tourism through raising awareness, while encouraging local citizens to travel and experience various tourism
experiences in the province.

India has been chosen as the host country to celebrate World Tourism Day (WTD) 2019 under the theme “Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all”.

Celebrated every September 27 worldwide, the purpose of WTD is to foster awareness within the broader community of nations.

Mokone said according to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), tourism is a driver of both job growth and economic prosperity, accounting for one in 10 jobs worldwide.
