Girls and alleged pimp in court

Three alleged backstreet nigh-time girls and a pimp were expected back in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 27 August.

Three alleged backstreet nigh-time girls and a pimp were expected back in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 27 August.

The courtroom appearance is a sequel to alleged “deals” between the foursome and a local store manager, from which a cash amount of R1 500 was allegedly exchanged in two separate incidents.

At the time police spokesperson, Sergeant Frans Maponya, said the businessman reported the series of incidents to the police, after the pimp allegedly pressured him to part with more money.

The alleged pimp, Maponya had said, was also charged for impersonating a police officer.

Maponya said the alleged pimp collected the sum of R1 500 twice from the manager, and the latter brought in the police after the man solicited more money.

Three of the suspects — two of the girls and the alleged pimp — are out on bail of R1 000 each.

The fourth girl, Maponya confirmed, had turned state witness, ahead of an anticipated sensational trial in weeks to come.

The three have been charged with extortion, theft and an additional charge of impersonating a police officer.
