Pienaarsriver Women’s Day celebrations

The sisters of Pienaarsrivier gathered at a local school on Friday 9 August to commemorate Women’s Day.

The sisters of Pienaarsrivier gathered at a local school on Friday 9 August to commemorate Women’s Day.

The women competed in various sporting activities, including netball, aerobics, netball and fun walk.

The event took place at Bathopele Secondary School.

The local Mkhondo Transport Services’ official, Nelly Mkhondo, organised the event.

She expressed her gratitude at the support from local business.

The event kicked off at the school in the morning with a formal session including motivational speeches, from elders of the local old age home, and then aerobics.

The women were then off to the local sports grounds for the rest of activities of the day.

Young women from different sections in the community including Tshidi Korobela, Semakaleng Ngwana and Maiphephi Lebalo were also part of the organizing committee.

Retired educator and motivational speaker, Lerato Moeketsi, and local old age home elder, Dorah Matlou, addressed the women on behaviour, self-empowerment, surviving poverty, as well as
uniting, support and for each other as women.
