Residents of Mookgophong and the surrounding areas will enjoy primary healthcare benefits for a period of two weeks, courtesy of the Transnet Phelophepa train.

The healthcare train arrived in Mookgophong on Monday 5 August, and was expected to provide healthcare services to the locals until Friday, 9 August.

During the weekend there will no services rendered, with the services expected to resume again on Monday 12 August until Friday 16 August.

Social Mobilizer of Phelophepa in the province, Malobe Mokone, urged members of the public to come in as early as possible as the services are rendered on a “first come first serve” basis.

It is also advisable to bring the clinic card when consulting at the healthcare train.

The services which are rendered at the carriages include health education, counselling/psychology, dental clinic and eye clinic.

There is also cancer and diabetes educare at the health train, located at the Mookgophong train station.

Should there be a need for medicine, patients will pay only R5 for a prescription to purchase medication.

At the eye clinic, patients will pay only R30 for all types of spectacles and R5 for eye drops.

The dental services range between R10 and R15.
