Arts sector national conference postponed

The Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa’s (CCIFSA) 2019 national elective conference has been postponed.

The Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa’s (CCIFSA) 2019 national elective conference has been postponed.

The conference was originally scheduled to take place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 at a venue still to be confirmed in Mpumalanga.

Arts and Culture Department stakeholder relations manager, Nontsikelelo Baqwa, said the event has now been rescheduled for Saturday 24 August and Sunday 25 August.

She said the postponement was necessitated by delays related to the verification processes of delegates.

She said that the decision for the postponement was a directive from the department.

Artists from across disciplines in Limpopo are scheduled to form part of the proceedings.

The specific venue in Mpumalanga was still to be confirmed.

The organisation is an initiative of the national Department of Arts and Culture.

It was founded in 2015 and its inaugural elective conference was held in the Free State town of Mangaung.

The department has placed on record that CCIFSA is not a funding body as many thought, but has a mandate to unite the sector, provide governance and policies.

The organisation was also going through challenging financial circles internally.
