Following the release of the PSL’s fixtures for the 2019/20 season, soccer lovers in Limpopo are waiting in anticipation for the fixtures of the National First Division which has been scheduled to kick off on Saturday 17 August.

Only the date has been released so far, and that can only keep the fans guessing on who will be squaring up with the province’s only campaigners in the NFD, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC,
when the new season kicks off.

With the introduction of two new teams in the league, it will be interesting to see how that will change the game in the NFD.

At the end of last season, Witbank Spurs FC was relegated to the lower ABC Motsepe League, while Stellenbosch FC gained promotion into the paid ranks of the Absa Premiership, after winning the
NFD championship.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC failed to gain promotion from the NFD play-offs, and is therefore back to the drawing boards for the team from Venda.

The exit of the two teams from the league made space for Gauteng’s JDR Stars FC and Steenberg United FC from the Western Cape, after gaining promotion from the ABC Motsepe League.

The promotion of JDR Stars FC brings Gauteng teams to a total of four in the league, including Jomo Cosmos, Maccabi FC and University of Pretoria.

On the other hand, Steenberg United FC will be the third team from the Western Cape, adding to Ajax Cape Town FC and Cape Umoya United.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila remains the only team from Limpopo in the NFD, following the failure of Mikhado FC to gain promotion during the ABC Motsepe League play-offs.
