The town of Thabazimbi is in shock following the untimely passing of former mayor Midah Moselane.

She passed away on Thursday 20 June.

Moselane is the former mayor of Thabazimbi, having served the local municipality as a councillor under the Thabazimbi Residents Association.

Those close to her – family, politically and otherwise – took to social media to express their sadness.

The BEAT spoke to a close friend of hers, Councillor Adolf Ramogale, who worked with her for many years and spent a lot of time together in politics and social engagements.

Ramogale is a ward councillor in the area and has worked 26 years as a councillor in various portfolios.

He said he worked with Moselane at the South African National Civics Congress, the SACP, ANC and the Thabazimbi Residents Association.

“(To me) Midah was a family friend. After her father died some years ago, she and her family came to me for support. She groomed me when I came to Thabazimbi in the 1990s,” he said.

Ramogale said Moselane was a humble individual and had a heart for the needy and vulnerable.

“We would often go together to different areas including the rural areas, lending a helping hand and donating stuff from our own pockets,” Ramogale said.

Moselane is survived by her daughter and son.
