Although the turnout at the Katjibane village fun run was not that huge, Modimolle-based Comrades Marathon runner Lucas Seleka expressed delight towards the locals who attended.

The 5km Youth Day fun run/walk was held in Katjibane outside Settlers, on Saturday 15 June.

Seleka told The BEAT he was satisfied with how everything went, and anticipated that the next event will be even better.

“The turnout was not that huge, but we appreciate the support we received from all those who attended. People loved it and we are already looking into a possibility of hosting another one next month,” he said.

He said the date for the next fun run will be confirmed in due course, but hinted it will be in July.

The athlete said the organisers managed to identify a few challenges, and would work on those aspects to ensure that the next event is more successful.

Fellow athletes Piet Sekgabi, Rose Sekele and her athlete daughter Nyologelo accompanied Seleka to his birthplace, where the event was held.
