Programme for 500 Modimolle beneficiaries

Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Buti Manamela recently launched a skills development programme in the Modimolle-Mookgophong municipality.

Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Buti Manamela recently launched a skills development programme in the Modimolle-Mookgophong municipality.

The skills programme was initiated by the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) in partnership with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).

Through the programme, the youth will be given theoretical training, and later acquire skills through various workshops.

Part of their training will be the construction of four classrooms at Dagbreek Primary School and a hall at Phagameng High School.

Deputy Minister Manamela said the training will give equal opportunities to the locals, through a criteria stipulated by the Department of Labour.

“Throughout our tenure in the ministry, we have been working very well to make sure that we make an impact on the youth in the constituency, the province and in the entire country,” he said.

Acting CEO of CETA Robert Semenya said the UIF allocated a budget of R400-million, to embark on similar projects throughout the country.

Semenya said the recruitment process for the training in the Modimolle-Mookgophong area will be carried out through the Department of Labour.

UIF Deputy Director Rachel Masha said the objective was to reduce unemployment within communities.

Masha also urged unemployed locals to register as job-seekers at their local Department of Labour offices.
Local councillors Rufus Mahoro, Daniel Phele, Stoffel Moruwe and Lucy Moruwe attended the event alongside Mayor Marlene van Staden.
