Mamelodi Sundowns talent scout headed for Bela-Bela

Talent scouts from Mameolodi Sundowns were expected to arrive in Bela-Bela to look for players during an inter-school tournament scheduled for Saturday 11 June.

Talent scouts from Mameolodi Sundowns were expected to arrive in Bela-Bela to look for players during an inter-school tournament scheduled for Saturday 11 June.

The tournament features Bela-Bela Soccer Academy, Raeleng Secondary School and Maope High School.

The matches are scheduled to be staged at Bela-Bela High School Stadium, with the first game kicking off at 10:00am

Bela-Bela Soccer Academy head coach, Sam Modise, said he was thrilled to have received communication from Mamelodi Sundowns veteran, Russel Molefe.

He said Molefe had indicated that a delegation from the Pretoria-based Absa Premiership team would spend the day at the inter-school games, scouting for talent.

“The boys are ready to showcase their skills on the day,” he said.

Modise said Molefe would be taking a look at the Bela-Bela Soccer Academy players for the second time, subsequent to the academy team playing against the Mamelodi Sundowns development side early this year.

The latter match took place at the Mamelodi Sundowns home village Chloorkop.

He said Mamelodi Sundowns was looking to identify players ranging from the ages of 13 to 19.

In recent years the academy’s players have been on trial at no lesser than other Absa Premiership teams, namely Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits.
