Following the recent mass prayer in Mookgophong, the local minister’s fraternal believes there should be an intervention from the government and private sector, in terms of creating jobs for the youth.

More than 24 churches and members of the public gathered on the Mookgophong Shopping Complex.

The African National Congress (ANC), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) were among the stakeholders who joined hands with the community.

Pastor Sipho Mlangeni said the issue of drugs and prostitution can be eradicated if young people can be given decent jobs, or job creating opportunities.

“Mookgophong has the potential to create job opportunities, especially in agriculture. We believe with a little bit of funding and proper training, joblessness can be reduced. Once people have jobs, they will not have a reason to commit crime in order to survive,” Mlangeni said.

Another issue which was on the table was the troubled Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality.

Mlangeni said they prayed for the restoration of the municipality into its original state.

The Mookgophong Ministers Fraternal chairperson thanked members of the public and all other stakeholders for coming out in numbers.

He reiterated that it is the responsibility of each and every member of the community to pray for a better future for Mookgophong.
