Hailstorms sigh of relief for Pienaarsrivier and Bela-Bela

Residents in Bela-Bela and Pienaarsrivier — most probably still shaken by destructive hailstorms in neighbouring Hammanskraal early in the week — can look forward to partly cloudy conditions going into the weekend.

In Hammanskraal private properties and several vehicles reportedly had windows smashed by violent hailstones measuring the size of golf balls on Monday 25 February.

The hailstorms — but to a lesser extent — were also experienced in Bela-Bela on Monday, with no reports of damage to property or vehicles.

Bela-Bela municipal spokesperson, Kabelo Mosito, said no reports of damage from hailstorms were received from both the town and Pienaarsrivier.

The Weather Service has forecast partly cloudy conditions for both Pienaarsrivier and Hammnskraal going into the weekend, with no forecasts of thunderstorms.

Further north residents in the town of Bela-Bela can also look forward to pleasant outdoor conditions with cloudy skies forecast from Friday to Sunday.

The weatherman has, however, forecast rain in Bela-Bela on Monday 4 March.

Temperatures in Bela-Bela were forecast to range from a low of 32 degrees on Friday, to a scorching 35 degrees on Sunday.

Fun-lovers in Modimolle can prepare the braai stands for a fabulous barbecue ahead of a mainly sunny weekend, stretching from Friday to Sunday.

Temperatures in the town were forecast to average 34 degrees.

In Mookgophong the weatherman has forecast sunny to partly cloudy conditions for Friday and Sunday, and a mixture of light clouds and sunny conditions for Saturday.
