Drugs suspect due in court

A suspect charged with the illegal possession of drugs is expected to appear before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Monday 4 March.

The man was arrested after the police received a tip-off from members of the community on Friday 22 February.

Modimolle SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer James Findlay said members of the police drove to Phagameng Township, for a sting operation.

In Phagameng members of the police surprised three men walking in the street.

One of the men, according to Findlay, was found in possession of 40 sachets of the nyaope concoction.

The operation was pulled off by Constable Mbhovhani Hlungwani, Sergeant Geoffrey Langa, Warrant Officer David Kwinana, and Constable Meshack Ntsieni.

The arrested suspect, Thomas Mabusela (30), was expected to appear before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on 4 March.

Findlay added that the suspect was arrested and made his first court appearance on Monday 25 February.
