The Limpopo Department of Community Safety spearheaded an anti-drugs campaign on the premises of Settlers Agricultural School outside Bela-Bela.

The occasion was also aimed at commemorating Children’s Day, held on Thursday 21 February.

Departmental director of transformation and special programs, Paul Moloto, said like all other institutions of learning, the Settlers Agricultural School could easily become the target of drug
dealers.

He said agriculture was an important component of the broader economy.

“We don’t want to lose our future leaders to drugs, and this has the potential to affect negatively food production and security,” he said.

Constable Pieter Scheppers from the Bela-Bela police said drug dealers were largely targeting schools.
