Modimolle gospel artist and philanthropist Rebecca Mokgosi has launched a campaign named Plant-a-seed, with the objective to raise funds for 140 selected school children in the area of Modimolle.

The campaign will be held in partnership with local non-profit organisations such as Paul Dave Foundation, Given to Give, Heaven’s Princess and local athletics club Fitness for All.

The 140 deserving learners will be identified from five Phagameng-based primary schools, one farm school and a local disability centre.

The fundraising process will be done in several ways, including a fun walk and a gospel music show.

The fun walk will be held on Saturday 23 February, starting at the local AFM Church in the morning.

Registration for 5 km will be R10, and R20 for 10 km.

More information can be sourced from Zakes Moatshe on 079 998 7294.

The gospel music show, dubbed Plant-a-seed Dimensional Worship, will feature among other local artists, TRV live band, Tiisetso Motjetje, Harry K and Shalom.

The show will be held at AFM Church in Modimolle on Friday 1 March.

Tickets to the event will be sold at R60.

Organising committee spokesperson Oscar Malete pleaded with the business sector and the community at large to contribute towards a good cause.

“We have realised that in our community we have many kids who are living in poverty. So when you plant a good seed in the community, you are improving the life of a learner at school and also boost their confidence,” Malete said.
