Farewell to Kabelo Moselane

Messages of congratulations and support continued to pour in for Raeleng High School wunderkind, Kabelo Moselane.

Messages of congratulations and support continued to pour in for Raeleng High School wunderkind, Kabelo Moselane.

The school held a special event to honour the top achiever on Friday 25 November, where parents, learners and educators bid him farewell.

The 17-year-old has since departed for the acclaimed medical school at Wits University in Gauteng.

He left the next day, Saturday, driven all the way to Johannesburg by Raeleng High School headmaster, Joseph Mashishi.

The cherry on top is that just a couple of years ago Basic Education Minister Angie Motshegoa threatened to close down the school due to poor matric results.

Moselane emerged the top achiever under the Warmbaths Circuit, meaning he outperformed learners from across the length and breadth of the town.

In his own words, Moselane thanked everyone who made the day possible; his parents, teachers, principals, and God. He told the learners that hard work and confidence from the word go makes one an achiever.

“You need to work hard from the beginning and not just at the last grade. Be optimistic and not pessimistic; tell yourself that you can; do better and hope for the best. I wish you all good luck and that you remove my record and grab all the distinctions as I failed to get only one,” Moselane said.

History teacher Ms NC Mashele was also honoured for her incredible results from the Class of 2018.
