CITY NEWS – EASTER SAFETY CAMPAIGN

Today, the Department of Public Safety launched its Easter Road Safety Awareness Campaign, to plead with residents to be safe and adhere to the rules of the road.

The City of Johannesburg, in conjunction with JMPD and emergency services has launched its annual Easter road safety campaign in a bid to reduce road carnage on the highways.

JMPD, Emergency Management Services officers as well as disaster management officers will be out there to ensure a safe environment for all motorists and holidaymakers.

While the most common accidents that occur are motor vehicle collisions, there has also been an increase in pedestrian accidents. Both motorists and pedestrians are thus engaged to be aware and especially cautious as the festive season approaches.

Motorists should also take note when passing an accident scene that they resist the urge to pull over into the emergency lane, as this obstructs the emergency services from doing their duties.
