Two jazz legends perform together

International jazz sensation, Jonathan Butler, is back in South Africa to perform with Ernie Smith at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace on March 17.

South African singer-songwriter, guitarist and Grammy nominee, Jonathan Butler, is coming to South Africa.

He’s made sure to include a few shows on his visit, which include a dazzling performance on March 17 with SA’s jazz maestro Ernie Smith at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace.

Born in Cape Town, Butler left South Africa over 40 years ago and has since become a world-renowned artist. But despite his international success, Butler has always remained connected to his roots and his music and performances are infused with the rhythms and sounds of his homeland.

Guitar Conversations is expected to be a memorable show. The two guitar virtuosos will serenade the night with the sounds of some of their popular hits, fan favourites and there will be some surprises.

Between the pair, they have won multiple awards and performed internationally. They are not only master guitarists and vocalists but also long-time friends.

“Johannesburg, are you ready to come out? I’m home, and I’m going to take your way back and bring you all the way to the now,” Butler said.

“I am about to release my new album, Colours, after three years of not doing a jazz album and am excited to share some of it and especially excited to share the stage with my friend of over 20 years,” Smith added.

Soothing love songs and talking guitars will make for an epic night to be remembered.
