Agrizzi’s bail appeal successful

The High Court overturned the refusal of Angelo Agrizzi's bail application.

Judgment was delivered in Angelo Agrizzi’s appeal to set aside the refusal of bail, was heard in the Gauteng Local Division of the Johannesburg High Court on October 30.

Agrizzi was refused bail in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on October 15.

The presiding judge indicated during his judgment that the magistrate had erred in his refusal of bail for Agrizzi.
His main point is in the statement by the magistrate that no amount of money can be enough to hold Agrizzi to his appearance in court.

The judge was of the opinion that the magistrate did not explore all of the possibilities that can be used to ensure the accused attends his court dates.

Agizzi’s appeal was successful and the decision to grant bail was overturned. He was granted bail equal to the value of property that was bought by Agrizzi in Castel del Piano in Italy.

He is to hand over the original deed of the property and it will be forfeited if he fails to comply with bail conditions. He will be immediately released from custody when the order is delivered to correctional services.

Agrizzi will appear again in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on December 3 with co-accused Vincent Smith.
