Common robbery suspect receives 11 years

Booysesn SAPS spokesperson Capt Lorraine van Emmerik said the docket was given to Ndlovu to investigate.

Booysens SAPS Sgt Sefiso Ndlovu obtained a guilty sentence on a common robbery case in which the suspect was handed 11 years direct imprisonment.

On August 23 in 2018 at about 2.45pm the complainant was walking in Chrisville. An unknown male stopped the complainant and asked her if he could use her phone. 

The suspect said to the complainant he wanted to send a ‘please call me’ to somebody to check if his child was picked up from pre-school. The complainant told the suspect she does not have a cellphone. The complainant, however, saw that she did have a phone. He grabbed it and ran away.

Booysesn SAPS spokesperson Capt Lorraine van Emmerik said the docket was given to Ndlovu to investigate. And with the help of Central Police Unite and community members, the suspect was arrested and charged.

“The suspect was sentenced to 11 years direct imprisonment. The management of Booysens SAPS wishes to thank Sgt Sefiso Ndlovu for his dedication in investigating and obtaining the successful conviction,” she said.
