24 A TOUCH of Christmas at Miniature Showcase where artisans showcase their work in the miniature world. Join them on November 24 from 9am to 12.30pm at Parkhurst Recreation Centre, corner of 13th Street and 5th Avenue, Parkhurst. Miniatures, dollhouse accessories, supplies and Christmas gifting and crafting available. No entrance fee but donations to Cerebral Palsy would be welcome. 24 THIS is one car show bringing you everything you love about cars and motorcycles with high-end vehicles, street and hot rods and a touch of the classics – make sure you make your way to Hoërskool Dinamika on November 24. This is a fund-raiser for Brackendowns police reservists to raise much-needed funds to equip them to effectively protect and serve the community. The day also offers a children’s play area with jumping castles and a variety of games as well as food and drink stalls. There is also a raffle and tickets that will be sold at the gate. An entrance fee of R50 per person will be charged and children under 12 enter free of charge. Stalls are available at R150 and trailers at R300. Book now. 25 THREE-KOPPIE group hike of up to 8km/three hours through the Melville Koppies on November 25. Park, meet and pay in the upper parking area at Marks Park, Judith Road, Emmarentia. Hike sets off 8.30am sharp so please arrive well in time. Cost is R60 for adults and R40 for children. All donations are used to maintain the Koppies. 7 CHRISTMAS Market at Sha-Mani Lodge, 30 Doncaster Raod, New Market, Alberton, on December 7 to December 9. This promises to be a spectacular weekend event running into the night with delicious food from various stalls, more than 80 craft and market stalls, gift wrapping station in support of Irwin Animal Rescue Centre, children’s activities throughout market hours with Olaf, Anna and Elsa are visiting on the Saturday – come play in the snow with them, jumping castle, face painting, pony rides, petting zoo, free dance mouse class (Saturday) and free playball session (Saturday). Christmas lights will be on in the gardens in the evenings with music entertainment on the Friday evening and Carols by Candlelight on the Saturday evening. 13 SA MILITARY History Society, Johannesburg branch, will meet again on December 13 at the auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the zoo) at 8pm. This will be a DVD evening to be followed by a year-end function. The DVD is Deterrence from the deep, the US Navy Ohio class ballistic missile submarines – running time 42 minutes. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands and enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture.
