JUNE

8 JOIN the Baseline Family Church for “The World Needs a Father” event to be hosted at 25 Pieter Ackroyd Ave, Bassonia, on June 8 and 9. The first event is from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on June 8. The second event is from 8.30am to 4.30pm on June 9. Topics to be covered include: “The Cry of the Children”, “Real Fatherhood, Real Man”, “Developing Moral Authority”, “The Clarity of Purpose” and “Discipline”. Tickets are priced at R250 per person. 9 JAHRMARKT Winter Festival will be held on June 9 at 75 Piercy Avenue, Parkhill Gardens, Germiston. It’s going to be tons of fun! The Evangelical Lutheran Church East Rand, also known as the German Lutheran Church in Germiston, is once again hosting its well-known Jahrmarkt. This festival is synonymous with a beer garden. There will be German music, traditional German food, a Weinstube (wine lounge), coffee and cake, a raffle and lots more. Everybody is welcome, so be sure to bring some friends and family along. Come and enjoy a day of good company and food while supporting the community. Festivities will begin at 10am with a devotion ceremony. Stalls will close at 6pm. 14 SA MILITARY History Society, Johannesburg Branch will get together on Thursday, June 14 at 8pm at the Auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the Zoo). First event will be “The Felix Affair: Lothar Sittig, the Ossewabrandwag and the Trompke Network” by Evert Kleynhans with the main lecture “The Nanking Massacre 1937” by Charles Cohen. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands and enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture. 16 DANCE to Arizona 5km colour run and family fun day hosted by CHX Dance Crew at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on June 16 from 10am to 4pm. Tickets available at www.quicket.co.za at R65 for adults, R50 for children aged six to 11 and children up to five years enter for free. Non-runners tickets available at R50. The day includes the colour run, dance shows and entertainment, market stalls, food vendors and kids’ zone.

16 DIE Cantare koor hou ’n gratis konsert op 16 Junie tot voorloop van die Wêreldkoorspele waarin hulle vanaf 4 tot 7 Julie in Pretoria gaan deelneem. Dit is die eerste keer in 30 jaar dat die spele op die Afrika kontinent plaasvind. Cantare nooi graag enige persoon wat na hulle wil kom luister, uit. Die konsert vind by die NG Gemeente Alberton-Suid om 2.30nm vir 3nm plaas en sal teen 4nm klaar wees. Daar sal heerlike koek en koffie voor die konsert te koop wees. 7-8 WINTER Fair at Nasrec Rand Show Road (entrances five and six) on July 7 and 8 from 9am to 5pm. Fun for the whole family complete with funfair, pop-up stalls, activities, food stalls, animal shows and exhibitions. Entrance is R25 per person with free entry for pensioners and children under the age of 2. No alcohol allowed. Prayer and halaal facilities available. 2 IT is time for keen golfers and those who love having fun on the course to get their golfing buddies together for Amcare’s annual golf day. This year’s income-generating golf day will be hosted on August 2 at Reading Country Club with the format being a betterball scramble. Book your four-ball for R2 000, which will secure a golf workshop, halfway snack pack and dinner at the prize-giving. There will be a cash bar available. Carts and caddies can be booked via the Pro Shop on 011 907 3666. There is hole branding available on the day, which is a great opportunity for businesses to create awareness. The community’s support in prizes will be most welcome.
