25: Zombie Night Run at Rietvlei as a fund-raiser for Frances Vorwerg School for Children with Special Educational Needs. The 5km fun run/walk starts at 6pm. Dress up in a scary outfit and bring your own flashlight or headlamp. This is a family and pet-friendly event. Entry fee is R50 per person. NEW 25-26 CAREER Expo at The Glen Shopping Centre in association with SABC. Don’t miss out on inspirational talks, flash mobs, music and lots of other entertainment and prizes to give away. Entrance is free for everyone to attend and you get the chance to find out about education. “The High School Career Expo” is South Africa’s only national public exhibition that is designed to provide both primary school children looking for a high school or prospective students or high school learners with the necessary tools to succeed in high school or tertiary education and beyond.

26: Discover some retro gems at the Nostalgia and Collectable Fair on May 26 from 9am to 3pm at Jackson Dam, 91- 93 Jackson Street, Brackenhurst. There will be plenty of stalls selling jewellery, gifts, clothing, books, plants, toys, “white elephant” items, crafts and even a huge fabric stash sale. There will be no shortage of stalls selling refreshments and delicious hot food, cakes, jams and preserves, fresh produce and eggs. A friendly atmosphere with fun activities, such as tombola and a raffle, will be there for everyone’s enjoyment. Good quality donations are welcome and will be most appreciated, such as “white elephant” items, toys, pre-loved clothes, women’s accessories and books. 26: Autumn Food and Craft Market at Jackson Dam, corner of Jackson and Le Maitre streets, Brackenhurst, on May 26 from 7am to 5.30pm. 26: Winter Woollies market at Qeenshaven Village, 64 Outspan Road in South Hills on May 26 from 9am to noon. If you are looking for knitted or crocheted items, handmade crafts, toys, gifts and novelties, you can’t miss this market. There will be a tea garden, boerewors rolls, pancakes, cakes, books, clothing, knitted jerseys and blankets.

27: Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church invites you to the 17th annual festival. Mondays

Tai chi classes for adults are available at the Martial Centre in Winchester Hills. Classes are on Monday and Wednesday from 7pm to 8pm and from 6.30am to 7.30am on Saturdays. This is an ideal form of exercise for over-40s. Tai chi is a martial art but is practised at a slower pace.
