The cinematic remake of Stephen King’s iconic IT broke global box office records last week (including the record for the biggest opening ever for a horror movie in the US) and this highly anticipated new release will now be screened in the Xtreme cinema at Nu Metro The Glen, along with an adrenalin-fuelled espionage thriller.

IT tells the chilling tale of Pennywise, the terrifying clown from the best-selling Stephen King novel of the same name. Experience this goosebump-inducing tale set in the town of Derry, Maine, like never before on one of Johannesburg’s largest cinema screens in Nu Metro Xtreme along with powerful 360-degree sound. IT takes the fear of clowns to the next level: the movie tells the story of seven young outcasts, who are about to face their worst nightmare – an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town’s children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard).
Some interesting trivia: This movie version of the popular scary story is hitting cinema screens exactly 27 years after Tim Curry immortalised Pennywise in the cult TV mini-series based on the Stephen King classic. Coincidentally, Pennywise also made his appearance in the original novel 27 years ago.
American Assassin (16 LV)
Mitch Rapp is a rising CIA black ops recruit under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley. The two are enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together, the three discover a pattern in the violence, leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent to stop a mysterious operative intent on starting a World War in the Middle East. American Assassin is quality action-thriller movie material at its best and stars Michael Keaton in one of the leading roles.
