Hugh Masekela to launch ‘No Borders’
Hugh Masekela launches new album live at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre.
THE Home of the Afropolitan, Kaya FM, in partnership with Bassline Live, presents the internationally renowned and critically acclaimed South African icon Hugh Masekela live at Gold Reef City’s The Lyric on Friday, April 14.
A night spent celebrating all things jazz, Bra Hugh will also be launching his latest album, ‘No Borders’, as well as performing a mix of old and new songs during this not-to-be-missed show.
An artist that needs little to no introduction, Masekela’s albums have always been a reflection of his timeless relevance and appeal. ‘No Borders’ features extraordinary collaborations with various artists, such as Zimbabwean legend Oliver Mtukudzi, Micasa’s J Something, Thembi Mokoena, Salema Masekela and Sunny Levin.
“Hugh Masekela has been celebrated by many over the years, and we are glad to be among those celebrating him and his work. As an artist, he is a huge advocate of culture and heritage. It gives us the greatest pleasure to host the legend himself at Gold Reef City, for we believe our past had a tremendous hand in shaping our rich heritage,” says Gareth Kaschula, Gold Reef City marketing manager.
Kaya FM’s Bassline Live series has historically grown from strength to strength, culminating in the past two shows being sold out some time before performance date.
