Youths name Gold Reef City as ‘favourite entertainment destination’

Ask Afrika’s knowledge of brands is extensive and as owners of the local Target Group Index (TGI) license, they are considered the South African leaders in brand expertise

GOLD Reef City was recently awarded the coveted “Favourite Entertainment Destination” award at the 2016 Sunday Times Generation Next Awards, earning an official ”cool brand” stamp from South Africa’s youth.

“We are delighted to receive this accolade and we would like to thank our young visitors for this overwhelming vote of confidence; we endeavour to make every experience a memorable one,” said Mike Page, director of operations and complex general manager at Gold Reef City.

With the Sunday Times Generation Next Awards, Gold Reef City was also recognised as an ICON brand, following the release of the 2016/2017 Ask Afrika Youth Brands Survey results. Ask Afrika pays tribute to brands which are loyally used by South African youths, aged 15 to 34.

Ask Afrika’s knowledge of brands is extensive and as owners of the local Target Group Index (TGI) licence, they are considered the South African leaders in brand expertise. The TGI survey is the largest of its kind in South Africa, with 19 sectors, hundreds of product categories and thousands of brands included in the measurement.

The 2016/2017 Ask Afrika survey consisted of 71 categories, in which Gold Reef City prevailed as the winner in the casino category. The property is renowned for delivering a thrilling gaming rush, but the popular entertainment destination also offers many activities and experiences prevalent to the South African youth market. This includes the thrilling theme park, the movies @ cinema complex, themed as a Victorian train station of a bygone era, 12 lanes of fast action ten-pin bowling, the Magic Company with its high octane arcade games and a variety of restaurants and fast food outlets.
