It’s glow time!

Route to road closures, everything you need to know before Neon Run

THE Trace Mobile presents the Neon Run this weekend and here’s everything you need to know, from route map to road closures, so you can get glowing on Saturday (May 14) at Wanderers Stadium.

The 5km run and music festival offers an electrifying after-party with South Africa’s top DJs and musicians, including: TiMO ODV, Rubber Duc, Goodluck, Dean Fuel, Kyle Watson and more. You can choose to crawl, walk, run, roll, skip or ride your way through a 5km neon wonderland dressed in your lumo best.

Race packs can be collected on May 11, 12 and 13 from 11:00 to 19:00 at Planet Fitness Wanderers (on North Street, Sandton). Remember identification, bar-coded tickets and proof of residence is needed, to make sure you glow in style.

The Neon Run will take place from 14:00 to 23:00 and gates open at 14:00 with a wide range of bar areas and a dedicated food zone available for some pre- and post-race refreshment. The race starts at 18:00. For all those not opting to do a warm-up run or Uber their way to the night of their life, parking will be available for the event for R10 at Melrose Arch or R50 at Wanderers Golf Club.

Here’s the line-up for the day/night (note the line-up is subject to change).

· iScream & The Chocolate Stix – 16:00 – 17:00

· TiMO ODV – 17:00 – 17:45

· Rubber Duc – 19:30 – 20:30

· GoodLuck – 20:30 – 21:30

· Kyle Watson – 21:30 – 22:30

· Dean Fuel – 22:30 – 23:30

Unfortunately, as with all exciting events, there will be some road and lane closures. The Trace Mobile presents the Neon Run has taken care creating a route that runs predominantly through quiet residential streets.

Please note that once the last runner has passed a particular intersection, residents will be allowed across the route; however, they will still not be allowed to head in the direction of the route.

· Corner Corlett Drive and Rudd Road will be closed.

· Corner Chaplin road and Rudd road will be closed.

· Oxford and Rudd roads will be closed in the direction of Rudd Road.

· Oxford and Central will be closed in the direction of Central.

· The cross streets along Central Avenue will be closed, namely 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Avenues will be closed.

· Athol Oaklands Road will be kept open and residents of Athol will be able to get in and out of their suburb using Lymington Avenue.

· Fort Street

· Irene Street

· Corlett Drive will be closed from Athol to Rudd Road from 14:00 to 21:00. The rest of the route will be manned and controlled from 12:00 and only be closed race time is approached (18:30).

Roads will be fully reopened at 21:00 after the organisers have cleaned up the route.
