MOVIES@ Gold Reef City recently hosted a pre-screening of the new Bollywood Indian thriller film, Fan, featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, and tells the story of an obsessive fan (Gaurav Chandna) who is also a lookalike of his favourite star (Aryan Khanna), both roles are played by Shah Rukh Khan. The film was released on Friday, April 15.
In the movie Gaurav is a middle class Delhi boy, who is a lookalike and die-hard fan of Bollywood superstar Aryan, who was also once a middle class Delhi boy.
Gaurav wins a contest in a local festival by imitating Aryan and he thereafter decides to go meet him.
After hearing a fellow actor, Sid Kapoor, giving a harsh statement against Aryan to the media, he gate-crashes Sid’s shoot, assaults him and forces him to apologise to Aryan on camera.
The video goes viral, leaving Aryan alarmed. He informs the police to arrest Gaurav. Aryan berates and warns him that he has committed a crime. Heartbroken, Gaurav burns down Aryan’s posters and decides to take revenge by discrediting him. This is where everything gets interesting between the two and Gaurav begins creating havoc in Aryan’s life.
In the fan’s attempts to destroy the star’s life, Gaurav gets Aryan arrested (but he manages to get bail), molests a woman and abuses Aryan’s wife.
