Holi Festival of Colours World Tour 2014 brought  colour and unity to Johannesburg

The Holi Festival of Colours took its particular brand of love, light and unity to the city of Johannesburg, in a memorable celebration of colour that will not be forgotten in a hurry.

JOHANNESBURG –  The tour brought an array of hues to its venue at Wanderers Cricket Stadium. Along with an atmosphere that can only be described as euphoric, the festival delivered a stellar line-up of artists that kept the party going from start to finish.

Talking of the success of this year’s event, festival organiser Jason Ayres said, “Holi Festival of Colours is one of the most colourful events you will ever experience! It’s a special event that originated from its home in India and is now expanding to everyone across the world. We gave South Africans the chance to live in this colourful environment, where everyone was able to come together and enjoy this special time.”

For South African party-goers, the chance to come together was without a doubt one of the many event highlights. Comments made by happy, multi-hued festival fans ranged from, “Best day in a long time!” to “We love colour!” to name but a few.

The Holi Festival of Colours is a global initiative that originated in Germany and spread to the rest of Europe. Once the message began to take hold, events started taking place all over the world, in South America, Africa, the Middle East, Australia as well as New Zealand.

Traditionally, the festival takes its roots from Holi – the Indian holiday that is held at the start of spring at the full moon of the Phaluga month. Taking the inspiration of celebration, colour powders and unity, the Holi Festival of Colours brings together world-class electronic dance music and a spirit of positivity and hope.

With its massive turnout, this year’s festival has proved to be one of the best yet, setting a positive benchmark for years to come. From security to food and drink stalls and entertainment, the 2014 Holi Festival of Colour was an undeniable success, and one that organisers will be striving to beat as planning for next year’s event gets underway.
