Glenvista High School under investigation

Allegations made against a staff member at Glenvista High.

GLENVISTA:  AFTER a video went viral of a learner hitting a teacher with a broom earlier this year at Glenvista High School, the school is once again in the news following allegations of financial mismanagement.

Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) was informed a staff member has been taking money from the school’s finances.

The department conducted a forensic investigation and it now seems they will be investigating further and have employed an external auditing company to continue with the investigation.

Phumla Sekhonyane from GDE said, “Preliminary investigations indicated the need for forensic investigation and we’ve appointed an independent investigator to conduct that.”

The CHRONICLE spoke to the school principal’s PA on Wednesday December 4 but was informed to contact Mr Michael Attie, Governing Body chairman. “He is the only person who can give comment about this,” she said.

The reporter phoned Mr Attie’s cellphone which rang and went to voicemail. She left a message for Mr Attie to call back. Nothing further has been heard since the phone call was made.
