Dancer claims gold in New York

She showcased her incredible talent which earned her gold on an international stage.

Tamira Naka obtained a gold medal for her tap solo after competing in New York at the International Performing Arts Championships (IPAC).

She was part of a South African team that took part. In order for her to qualify as a participant, Tamira had to do well in the regional competition, Talent Africa and then in nationals held in Sasolburg last year. She received gold there too.

Her teacher from Laetitia’s Dance Studio in Mulbarton is extremely proud of her, saying that it was hard work and dedication that got her to excel.

Tamira said: “Although it was nerve-wracking, I followed my mom’s advice to forget that it was a competition and to just dance my heart out.”
