Chad Markgraaf’s Journey of Compassion and Hope

In a world that often seems to rush past us and where people are engrossed in their daily routines, there are those who stand out and who go the extra mile, literally, to make a difference.

Chad Markgraaf (20) of Alberton, an embodiment of determination and compassion, has embarked on a remarkable mission: running 100 marathons to support a cause that’s close to his heart.

As Chad nears the midpoint of his marathon mission, his dedication to the cause shines brighter than ever.

To honour his community and to pay tribute to those who have fought valiantly against cancer or who continue to wage their battles, Chad is hosting an impactful fundraiser.

Mark your calendars for September 9 from 09:00 to 12:00, as St Declan’s School for Boys at Rietvlei Lifestyle Centre becomes a space of unity and compassion.

As Chad aptly puts it, the entrance fee is not a monetary cost, but a precious photograph of someone you know who has been touched by cancer, a poignant reminder of the battles waged and the strength exhibited.

The heart of the event lies in the creation of a touching message and memorial wall. The event will feature a 5km/10km walk or relay, uniting participants in a collective stride towards hope.

And as the event fosters unity, it also offers the simple joys of life—food and drink vendors will be on-site, providing sustenance and camaraderie.

The proceeds from this event will be channelled directly to Kyle Dally, a young man battling stage four skin cancer, giving him much-needed support in his fight against cancer.

Chad’s endeavour is a testament to the power of community and the incredible impact that individuals can have when they band together for a cause that truly matters. But Chad’s mission doesn’t end here.

The final stretch of his 100 marathons will serve as yet another opportunity to champion his cause. He plans to raise funds by inviting people to sponsor him per kilometre as he conquers these last miles.

The details of this initiative will be shared on his social media, a space where the journey is chronicled, milestones are celebrated and the spirit of hope is shared.
