Father and daughter qualify for powerlifting champs

Powerlifters Kobus Bester and his daughter, Lizette, qualified to compete at the 2023 World Powerlifting Champs and need your support to participate.

Johannesburg South’s rising powerlifter Lizette Bester, following in her father’s footsteps, is determined to leave her mark on the sport.

Lizette has many achievements to her name, and she and her father, Kobus, qualified to compete in the World Powerlifting Championships in Manchester, UK.

The duo was selected as part of the World Powerlifting Congress South African team to participate in the champs from October 31 to November 5.

They desperately need your financial assistance to pay for all their expenses.

Hoërskool Dinamika’s Lizette will compete in the full meet super heavyweight class, Teen 2 division, while her father will compete in the equipped single meet 82.5kg class, Master 2 division.

The selection came soon after Lizette, part of Pit Bull Gym, broke a world record for deadlift and smashed an SA record for bench press in powerlifting.

The pair said they were thrilled about the opportunity and asked for the community’s support to make their trip possible.

To offer any support, contact Kobus Bester on 076 332 1254 or email Lizette on lizettebester6@gmail.com
